Santa Fe International Folk Art Market

The Santa Fe International Folk Art Market has established itself as the largest international folk art market in the world and serves as an advocate for the preservation, survival, and transmission of folk arts worldwide. The Market represents an innovative cultural enterprise model that presents a new paradigm for international development, poverty alleviation, and peace-building. It puts producers, who are often marginalized and from rural areas in developing nations, into direct contact with international customers who value their traditions. During the Market on July 9, 10 & 11, 2010, 175 artists from 53 countries and 25,000 visitors gathered for interaction and cultural exchange, deepening their appreciation and understanding of the diverse cultures of our world. This year, the Market also presented a colloquium, Women’s Artisan Cooperatives for Economic and Social Empowerment, enabling women to promote awareness of their role in the advancement of intercultural dialogue.
