Council of Europe: Intercultural education and exchanges

Résumé

In line with the policy dimension of intercultural competence outlined in the White Paper on Intercultural Dialogue the project Intercultural education and exchanges is twofold.

An educational framework, guidelines and practical tools for the development of intercultural competence in mainstream education had been provided in order to influence education policy making in the Council of Europe member states.

A Council of Europe label had been launched to be awarded to schools in the member states to recognize innovative and effective initiatives in the field of intercultural education as an integral part of their day-to-day practice.

In this context guidelines for pupil exchanges and school partnerships as well as the Autobiography of Intercultural Encounters, a tool developed as a follow up to the White Paper on Intercultural Dialogue, had widely been made available to education professionals in Europe.
