Council of Europe: "A History of Interactions within the Mediterranean and between the Mediterranean and Other Cultures and Religions of the World"

In line with the approach of Unesco and the Council of Europe of the development of history teaching as a contribution to Intercultural Dialogue, building trust between peoples and cultures and awareness araising of shared history, this three year project aims at the production of didactic materials for formal and nonformal education highlighting positive interactions over the centuries within the peoples of the Mediterranean Basin and between them and other cultures and regions of the world.
Materials, placing the accent on social and cultural history, results from the collaboration of historians and educationists conversant with history teaching. They include written and audio-visual supports for learners, as well as handbooks for teachers and trainers. Drawing on existing networks and consortia of specialists, a small task force had been set up to pursue the project’s objectives, which had been reflected in its composition
