Cultural Heritage Protection in the Asia – Pacific Region: research, analysis and preservation of archaeological sites and remains


Sixteen professionals from countries in the Asia-Pacific region participated in the course, which provided knowledge and skills on the following points:

•principles and methodologies for protecting archaeological sites;
•principles, methodologies and techniques concerning management and use of archaeological sites;
•recording techniques and analytical methods for archaeological sites;
•provided participants with an an opportunity to establish a network of colleagues from the region and share experiences.

Organized by Bunkacho (Agency for Cultural Affairs in Japan), ACCU Nara, the National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, Tokyo and Nara, and ICCROM, in cooperation with the Consortium for International Cooperation in Cultural Heritage, Japan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Japanese National Commission for UNESCO, Nara Prefectural Government, and the Nara Municipal Government.
Member States represented: Cambodia, China, India, Lao PDR, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Viet Nam
