Shanghai 2010 World Expo : Participation of the International Council of Museums

Résumé

ICOM participated for the first time in a World Exposition. The objective of this unique occasion was to showcase the diversity of museums and museum professionals and promote the contribution of museums to people’s cultural, economic, ecological, technological and social life. During six months, the ICOM Pavilion in the Shanghai 2010 World Expo welcomed more than 20 000 visitors from around the world to learn success stories from more than 100 museums around the world. Cultures of different continents were featured around the theme of ‘Museums, Heart of the City’ through temporary exhibitions, workshops and performances: Europe in May, Africa in June, North America in July, Latin America and the Caribbean in August, Oceania in September and Asia in October.
