Kava Kuo Heka Festival

The primary goal of the Kava Kuo Heka 2010 was to protect and promote cultural diversity in Tonga and to celebrate the UN Year of Rapprochement of Cultures. The Festival programme placed an emphasis on thematic panel discussions on the place of Tongan traditional values, such as respect, consensus, cooperation, and reciprocity in a contemporary context, and challenges they face in terms of religion, governance, and education in an increasing multi-cultural society.
Over 2500 students and 2100 general public attended the Festival, appreciating the goals and values put forward by the UN Year. After the Festival, TV and radio programme has been produced and broadcasted, ensuring its nation-wide promotion and outreach.
