Overview:

This project aims to enhance the safeguarding capacities of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan through effective implementation of the Convention, thereby contributing to sustainable development. It is also within the project’s objective to promote better visibility of intangible cultural heritage, awareness of its significance and its function in society. Also by promoting mutual respect for the heritage of others, this project is expected to foster cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue and a culture of peace in these countries.

To that end, this project consists of three national training workshops:

12-2013/12-2014 – Strengthening sub-regional cooperation and national capacities in seven Southern African countries for implementing the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage06-2012/06-2014 – Strengthening national capacities for effective safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage in Cuba, Dominican Republic and Haiti
