Assessing long-term effects of capacity building – a new challenge

01 June 2015 – UNESCO has embarked on the establishment of a follow-up and evaluation mechanism for activities carried out under the Convention’s global capacity-building programme. The programme is part of global and national efforts to attain long-term development goals benefitting more than 65 countries to date. While it is considered by many the most important mechanism of the Convention, little is known about its long term effects at country level. New intangible cultural heritage nominations received!

25 May 2015 – The ICH Secretariat has received 56 new files by the 31 March deadline: 7 nominations to the Urgent Safeguarding List, 41 to the Representative List, 6 proposals for the Register of Best Safeguarding Practices and 3 financial assistance requests. 61 States have applied, of which four for the first time and ten that have no inscribed element so far.

As in previous cycles, only 50 files will be processed according to the level of priority determined in the Operational Directives. Details on submitting States and the priorities for 2016 cycle can be consulted online… ›››
