Spanish Funds-in-Trust

The Government of Spain began supporting the UNESCO Secretariat of the 2003 Convention in 2009 through financing the project, ‘Support to the implementation of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage through the development and maintenance of an information management system and the production, translation and dissemination of training materials’. The project enables

• the newly-published Information Kit on intangible cultural heritage, to be translated and printed in Spanish, and widely distributed to Spanish-speaking countries,
• the Spanish version of the publication of the 2009 Representative List,
• locally-adapted brochures about intangible heritage in Latin America.

Spain ratified the 2003 Convention in October 2006 and thus also began contributing to the Intangible Cultural Heritage Fund established under the 2003 Convention. Spain regularly supports the Spanish interpretation at Committee meetings.
