29 Nov 2011: Meeting in Bali (Indonesia) from 22 to 29 November, the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Heritage has just inscribed Leuven age set ritual repertoire (Belgium), Chinese shadow puppetry (China), Traditional knowledge of the jaguar shamans of Yuruparí (Colombia), Bećarac singing and playing from Eastern Croatia (Croatia), Nijemo Kolo, silent circle dance of the Dalmatian hinterland (Croatia), Tsiattista poetic duelling (Cyprus), Ride of the Kings in the south-east of the Czech Republic, Equitation in the French tradition (France), Mibu no Hana Taue, ritual of transplanting rice in Mibu, Hiroshima (Japan), Sada Shin Noh, sacred dancing at Sada shrine, Shimane (Japan), Cultural practices and expressions linked to the balafon of the Senufo communities of Mali and Burkina Faso, Mariachi, string music, song and trumpet (Mexico), Pilgrimage to the sanctuary of the Lord of Qoyllurit’i (Peru), Fado, urban popular song of Portugal, Festivity of ‘la Mare de Déu de la Salut’ of Algemesí (Spain), Jultagi, tightrope walking (Republic of Korea), Taekkyeon, a traditional Korean martial art (Republic of Korea), Weaving of Mosi (fine ramie) in the Hansan region (Republic of Korea) and Ceremonial Keşkek tradition (Turkey) on the Representative List of Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
The Committee has also established the Consultative Body for the examination of nominations in 2012 for inscription on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding, selected programmes for the Register of Best Safeguarding Practices and requests for international assistance greater than US$25,000, as well as set up a Subsidiary Body for evaluation of nominations for inscription on the Representative List in 2012.
