Intangible Cultural Heritage Section: activities and contacts
Activities
UNESCO’s Intangible Heritage Section assumes the function of the Secretariat of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (c.f. Article 10), and will continue working with Member States not yet party to the Convention. The Section also manages the following programmes:
- Living Human Treasures: this programme recognizes and encourages persons possessing a very high degree of knowledge and skill necessary for performing or creating specific elements of the intangible cultural heritage
- Endangered languages: the UNESCO Endangered Languages Programme aims to promote and safeguard endangered languages and linguistic diversity as an essential part of the living heritage of humanity
