The fourth session of the General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage took place from 4 to 8 June 2012 at UNESCO Headquarters (7, place de Fontenoy, Paris 75007, Room II).
During this session, the General Assembly revised some of the Operational Directives in the light of the experience gained by the Intergovernmental Committee in their implementation since 2008. Revision proposals concerned the modalities of the examination and the maximum ceiling of files to be treated annually by the Committee. The General Assembly also proceeded with accreditation of non-governmental organizations for advisory services to the Committee and conducted an election for the renewal of half of the Members of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
