On the occasion of the celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Delegation of Hungary to UNESCO is organizing a Gala Evening on 10 June 2013 to present the Hungarian Intangible Cultural Heritage to a wider audience.
Folk music, folk dance and folk traditions are important ways of maintaining and transmitting our cultural heritage. The Gala Evening will present the winners of a special folk dance and music television talent show, called “Peacock Variations…” (“Felszállott a Páva”). The event will feature a demonstration of the “Táncház” (dance-house) method, "Matyó" embroidery folk artists, Falconers and Masked end-of-winter carnival customs ("Busók").
With the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary in collaboration with the Hungarian Heritage House and the Hungarian Open Air Museum.
