An exhibition of the Lithuanian Cross-crafting tradition took place at the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO from the 24 th of April till the 6th of May, 2013. The event was held in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. “Sweet Tree of Life” (by Rūta Ambrasūnienė and Sigutė Chlebinskaitė), a book inspired by the Lithuanian Cross-crafting tradition, was presented on the exhibition opening day too. Rūta Ambrasūnienė, the text author, claims that this book was born out of the wander that one experiences when approaching the intangible deep meanings and the hidden value of this tradition. The artwork of this book, created by a famous artist Sigutė Chlebinskaitė, helps the reader to get involved into this personal exploration of Cross-crafting. The book is published in Lithuanian and English. On the last day of the exhibition, preschool children took part in the creative Cross-crafting tradition workshops. The exhibition “The tree of Life. Lithuanian Cross-crafting and its symbolism”, was first held in 2008 at the Headquarters of UNESCO in Paris, then in Italy, the Netherlands and Lithuania and it is going also to take place in Poland on July‒October, 2013.
