CIOFF® Bosnia and Herzegovina - International Folk Festival „Bosiljkovanje“ Derventa

Program consisted of tour of the city for foreign participants, morning meetings of group leaders, organizers and volunteers, workshops, presentations and seminars, parades, craft fairs, traditional food fair and concerts of folklore groups. Parades and concerts were held in different places. Opening ceremonies were lead by local authorities. Announcers introduced public ti program that groups performed, its meanings and importance for the culture of people where group is from. The event widely covered by media. This concept of the programme is related to the goals of Convention ICH 2003. : to ensure better visibility of the intangible cultural heritage and awareness of its significance, and to encourage dialogue which respects cultural diversity, the exchange of information and experience; Considering the need to build greater awareness, especially among the younger generations, of the importance of the intangible cultural heritage and of its safeguarding; Considering that the international community should contribute to the safeguarding of such heritage in a spirit of cooperation and mutual assistance; Considering the invaluable role of the intangible cultural heritage as a factor in bringing human beings closer together and ensuring exchange and understanding among them.
