Discipline: contemporary dance (with usage of point shoes by female dancers) and choreography. The host and partner institution: the Ballet Argentino has been created by the Argentinean dancer Julio Bocca in Buenos Aires in 1990. Since then the company has undertaken several world tours. Its repertoire includes classical works as well as contemporary pieces specially created for the company by leading choreographers. The laureate will create a choreography for the company "Ballet Argentino" directed by Mr Julio Bocca. The institution encourages meetings, intercultural exchanges and country visits. Nature of the bursary: round trip travel, individual bedroom and bathroom, access to a kitchen. The laureate bears food costs. The health insurance is provided by the institution. Dates of the residency: to be fixed by mutual agreement between September 2002 and June 2003. Eligibility: professional choreographers, with several years of professional experience.Very good working knowledge of English, French or Spanish required. How to apply: using the application form supplied in this brochure, apply directly to Balletin Dance, at the address indicated above, by sending a complete curriculum vitæ, a recent photo, two reference letters, a description of the project, a VHS video tape with recent works is required. It must have the name of the choreographer, date and name of the theater where the performance took place, and should be accompanied with extra documentation testifying that the piece belongs to the applicant(s) (this could be newspaper articles, reviews, advertisements, etc.). The choreography should have a maximum length of 25 minutes. It should include the intervention of 6 to 8 dancers (men and women). The music chosen should avoid experimental, electro-accoustic compositions, and must in advance be sent to Balletin Dance. Point shoes for women are strongly encouraged, joining academic classic ballet with contemporary technique. The creation will be presented in tours, therefore it should not need scenery. The laureate is free to choose the style in which the piece will be created (neo classical, contemporary etc.) The cost of sending the application to Argentina has to be carried by the applicant.
