Discipline: dance (Contemporary and Modern, Ballet, Jazz, Rythmic Gymnastic, Salsa/Latin America Contemporary Dance, Thai Classical Dance and Khon) and Mind/body development (Aikido, Kung-Fu, Tai Chi Chuan, Yoga, Enhanced Learning and Creative Thinking). The host and partner institution: created in 1985, the Dance Center is approved and licensed by the Ministry of Education of Thailand. The school has grown to nearly 1,000 regular students. It caters to the needs of different groups and is dedicated to the promotion and teaching of classical ballet and a wide range of dance movements of various styles. "The Company of performing Artists" Thailand offering "an opportunity to invest the betterment of Life through Art and Culture"is Thailand's first and foremost independent dance-theatre-company established in 1997 to promote professional contemporary artists and their work. The Artist-in-Residence is expected to teach and conduct regular classes and workshops (based on their particular discipline) during their residency. Nature of the bursary: round trip travel, board and lodging, small per diem to cover local travel and subsistance. Artist must provide their health insurance. Dates of the residency: to be fixed by mutual agreement between June 2002 and June 2003. Eligibility: professional dancers or choreographers under the age of 35, familiar with both classical and modern dance, and having experience of working abroad. Candidates with special skills (e.g. music therapy or dance therapy, Alexander technique, palates), knowledge and experience in ethnic dance (e.g. African, South American) will be given high priority. Additional knowledge in Mind/Body disciplines will be considered as an advantage (e.g. Brazilian Gracie jitsu or Capoera, Chinese Kung Fu, Hatha and Raja Yoga, Juggling). Working knowledge of English required.
