Discipline: contemporary dance.

The partner institutions: Austrian Federal Chancellery, European Union, Bristol-Myers Squibb and 50 more partners around the world. The host institution: danceWEB is a scholarship programme for contemporary dance aiming at an all-year communication network of dancers, dance companies, institutions and magazines. DanceWEB is hosted by Im Puls Tanz, Europe's biggest workshop festival. The festival enables the scholarship holders to work and exchange on many levels with leading artists of the field.

Facilities provided: 150 seminars and projects held at the University Sports Centre, Vienna (10 studios) and the Ballet School of the National Theatre (6 studios), specific intensive projects for danceWEB scholarship holders only, student hostel.

Nature of the bursary: round trip travel, single room accommodation with bathroom and kitchen, possibility to participate in all seminars and projects offered, free admission to all performances and film screenings. The artists must provide their own health insurance.

Dates of the residency: July-August 2002.

Eligibility: trained dancers or choreographers at the beginning of their professional careers, from Latin America, Middle East or Africa, (between 22 and 30 years of age), with clear orientations towards professional dance careers (not for dance teachers). Working knowledge of English required.
