Discipline: classical dance (advanced level), as well as courses of contemporary dance, jazz, character dancing, dance history, and body solfa. The host and partner institution: in 1987, the École de Danse de l'Opéra National de Paris opened a special section for foreign students under 18 years of age willing to improve their skills in classical dance. Computers, costumes, library and video library are available. Participation in all dance courses offered by the School. All students follow the obligatory general school programme and can be lodged in a boarding school. Students entering under this special category may not present themselves for an audition for the Opéra de Paris Ballet Company. Nature of the bursary: round trip travel, accommodation and meals (from Monday to Friday). The School closes for the week-ends and school holidays. Artists must provide their own health isurance. Dates of the residency: September 2002 - June 2003. Eligibility: classical dancers, between 15 and 18 years old of excellent levels. Working knowledge of French or English required. How to apply: apply directly to the School by sending a curriculum vitæ indicating size and weight, a recent photo in dance pose, a recent medical certificate of physical aptitude for the dance, a video cassette of a dance class containing 2-3 exercises at the bar, in the middle, adage and pirouette, small and big jumps, small battery, points for girls, diagonal or manège and one or two variations. The dancers must be easily identifiable and by themselves. The tape must be in good condition and rewound (maximum length 20min). The School will audition pre-selected candidates.
