Residency at the Rosella Hightower International Dance Institut, Cannes, France (one or two years)

Discipline: classic, contemporary and jazz dance, history of ballet and of music, dramatic art, vocal work. French lessons for foreigners.

The host and partner institution: since the creation of the R. Hightower's school in 1961, its international vocation has expanded: over 30 nationalities are represented here every year. Headed by Rosella Hightower, one of the most renown dancers and professors of her time, the School offers multidisciplinary training.

Facilities provided: participation in dance classes and performances. 

Nature of the bursary: round trip travel, tuition, board and lodging for one or two years (except for the Christmas holidays and July-August). Artist must provide their health insurance.

Dates of the residency: beginning September 2002.

Eligibility: classical and/or contemporary dancers, between 17 and 22 years of age of demonstrated ability and commitment from Latin America, Africa or Asia (especially China or Korea).

How to apply: apply directly to the School by sending a curriculum vitæ indicating size and weight, a recent full size photo, a statement of intent, two reference letters, a video tape showing your capacities in classical and/or contemporary dance containing 2-3 exercises at the bar, in the middle, adage and pirouette, small and big jumps, small battery, points for girls, diagonal or manège and one or two variations. The dancer must be easily identifiable and by him/herself. The tape must be in good condition and rewound (maximum length 20min). The School will audition pre-selected candidates.
