Small Glass Jar
Bilad Al-Sham has a special history in the glass-making industry, which it continued to promote and advance throughout the ages, from the age of the Phoenicians up until the Islamic civilization. Trade in this material spread between the East and the West and many styles had appeared, both in ways of production and in shape and decoration.
This object is a small glass jar produced by filling with air freely – i.e. glass blowing. It is the most ancient method of glass production, through which it can create many forms and different decoration, depending on the manual skill of the producer. The glass blower inflated the glass paste to form the rim, neck, body and the base. Then he carefully added the handles on the two sides of the vessel. Then he added the touches of ornamentation around the neck, with a spiraling glass string.
