It is a pottery lamp with a simple ring base. The body is made with a mold and ornamented with stylized floral and geometrical forms. It has two openings at the spout while a prominent cross is carved at the handle.
These kinds of lamps are found in large quantities throughout the convents and churches of Syria. This tradition of lamp-making is an old industry which continued throughout the pre-modern period, whereby, in the Islamic age, the cross design, was replaced with a fan-shaped floral leaf.
