Stone conduits were used to distribute water to the city. Later iron and lead pipes were used. The piece presented here is a parallel piped limestone block with a 16mm diameter circular central opening. It has both male and female openings to allow connection to similar pieces.
This piece was part of the channelling of Lumiar road. It was recovered in 1984 when Camara Municipal de Lisboa (city hall) carried out works that included the dismantling of this work of art.
