Mills District
Water mill located in the Mills District which was known during the Turkish occupation as the Tsiarkoriani Kapusu or the Thzedit (New) quarter. A small number of these types of mills have been preserved however, most of them were demolished.
The first factories of Edessa were built in this district because it is very close to the area of the famous waterfalls. Each factory used the energy from one waterfall. During the Turkish occupation the government prohibited the production of electricity using energy from the waterfalls
