Interactive Model - Mill Boats
click to enlarge This model is a simulation of two mill boats with a moving wheel between them known as "aceña" (a water driven wheat mill situated in a river). Through various 'teeth' on the wheel and the force of the water from the Segura River, the mill stone is activated. The advantage of this mechanism is its mobility in that it could be removed when the flow of water is too strong, which is a frequent event in the Mediterranean river basins.
