Two original grinding wheels

19th and 20th Century

The water that moved the turbine or hydraulic wheel also moved a toothed wheel situated in the centre that then moved two lateral wheels. The gyrating movement of these two wheels was transported to the suspended grinding wheels by way of two central gyrators. At the extremes of the base there are two floating wheels that activate a system supported by a rigid bar that serves to regulate the distance between the stones. Also, between the two stones and over the bar, there are parts of a crane that permits the elevation of the stones for repair or maintenance.
