The results of this encounter between creative craftspersons and designers are the subject of an exhibition to be held at the “Maison et Objet” Salon in Paris from 28 January to 1 February.

17 02 2005 - 18 02 2005  The eighth Regional Meeting for Promotion of the “Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage” will take place in Roseau (Dominica) on 18-19 February on the occasion of the official visit of the Director-General of UNESCO to Dominica. This regional meeting will concern the Member States in the Caribbean. Several important regional representatives will also be present.

06 02 2005 - 09 02 2005  The Intergovernmental Committee, composed of 22 States Members, meets every two years to discuss cases and issues concerning the return and restitution of cultural property, and the fight against illicit trafficking in cultural property.

31 01 2005 - 12 02 2005 The Director-General of UNESCO, Koïchiro Matsuura, opened on Monday, 31 January the second session of the intergovernmental meeting of experts on the Preliminary Draft Convention on the Protection of the Diversity of Cultural Contents and Artistic Expressions which is being held under the chairmanship of Professor Kader Asmal (South Africa).

Interim tsunami alert system for the Indian Ocean
29 01 2005 - UNESCO and its Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) are in the process of developing an interim tsunami alert system in the Indian Ocean which will cover the region while a longer-term fully-fledged system is put in place.
