Mauritius second State to ratify the International Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage
09 06 2004 - Mauritius became the second Member State to ratify the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003) after completing the required procedure at the Organization on June 4 

World heritage to the fore in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe (3 June - 26 June 2004)
11 06 2004 - The Fifth International Volunteer Khami Restoration Camp (3-26 June) near Bulawayo is now in progress, to be followed by a “1972 World Heritage Workshop” for Zimbabwean journalists. Operating on an annual basis since its inception in 2000, this year's camp groups a total of 20 students from Botswana, Cameroon, Germany, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Reunion, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Japan becomes the third State to ratify the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage
15 06 2004 - The Director-General of UNESCO, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, received this morning from the hands of the Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Japan to UNESCO, Mr Teiichi Sato, the instrument of acceptance of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003).

28 06 2004 - 07 07 2004  The session will be opened by Mr. Koïchiro Matsuura. Several hundred participants are expected to attend. They will include members of the World Heritage Committee, Representatives of States Parties to the World Heritage Convention (a total of 177 as of November 2003), and representatives of the Advisory Bodies to the World Heritage Committee - ICCROM, ICOMOS, IUCN.
