Mrs. Grace Ekpiwhre became Nigeria's Honourable
Minister of Science and Technology on Thursday
26 July, 2007. Born on January 4, 1949, She
holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Zoology
degree from University of Lagos, Nigeria.


Mrs. Ekpiwhre started her public service career
as Fisheries Officer with the then Bendel State
Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources
in 1972, and rose to Deputy Director (Fisheries)
in 1989. Between 1989 and 1999, Mrs. Ekpiwhre
served as Director: Women Affairs; Executive
Secretary: Delta State Commission for Women
Affairs and Director-General, Directorate of
Government Parastatals. She was appointed
Permanent Secretary in the Delta Civil Service
in 1999 and served in the Directorate of
Establishment and Pension within the Ministry
of Agriculture.

Later Mrs. Ekpiwhre served in the Ministry of
Housing before her appointment as Head of
Service, Delta State in 2002. She became the
Chairman of Delta State Civil Service
Commission in March 2007, a position she
held until her appointment as a Minister of
the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
