Dr. Sam Ominyi Egwu is Federal Republic of Nigeria's Honourable
Minister of Education. He was sworn in as Minister by President
Umaru Musa Yar'Adua on Wednesday 17 December, 2008. He is
married to Eunice Ukamaka Egwu, and they are blessed with
four children.

Born on 20 June, 1954, Dr.Egwu, served two terms of four
years each as Governor of Ebonyi State, Nigeria from 1999
to 2007. Earlier, he served as Commissioner for Education
in Ebonyi State.

The Honourable Minister holds a Doctorate degree in
Agronomy from Enugu State University of Science and
Technology [ESUST]. He was also Head of Crop Science,
Department ESUST; as well as Chairman: University
Staff School Management Board, amongst many other
positions.

Dr. Egwu has published over 10 papers; and has 30 awards
plus 21 traditional titles.
