Hajiya Aishatu Jibril Dukku, who is married with
children, became Nigeria's Minister of State in
the Federal Ministry of Education in July 2007.
Hajiya Dukku was born in Dukku, Gombe, Nigeria.
She holds a Bachelor'S degree in Education from
Bayero University, Kano. She also studied at the
University of Jos and attended several seminars and
workshops concerning education in particular;
including other fields of interest; such as "The
Rights of Women under Islam", "Training for Senior
Civil Servants in the Federal Civil Service" and
"workshop for Inspectors of Education."
A professional educationist, Hajiya Dukku has taught
at different levels in the Nigerian education system.
She headed several secondary schools, some of which
she pioneered as founding Principal. Her working
experience includes teaching English Language at
Government Secondary School Gombe (1987) and at
Government Girls Science Secondary School in Doma.
In 1990 she was appointed Vice-Principal (Academic)
at Pilot Junior Secondary School in Gombe. She was
then seconded to the Women Commission for four years
(1990 - 1994) before coming back to the education
system as Vice-Principal (Academic) in her old
School – Government Girls Science Secondary Schol,
Doma.
From 1996 Hajiya Dukku was successively Principal:
Gandu Junior Secondary School, Principal, Government
Day Secondary School (1997) and Pioneer Principal,
Federal Government Girl’s College, Bajoga (May 1999).
In March 2006 Hajiya Dukku was appointed Federal
Inspector of Education, under the Federal
Inspectorate Service, Gombe.
Hajiya Dukku’s writings which are in the fields of
education, women and youth include: "Attitude of
Teachers towards the use of Reward and Punishment",
"Girl-child Education in Gombe North: The Way
Forward (2003)", "Women and Heritage" published in
Nawoj Magazine (2003), "An Overall View of the
Challenges of Motherhood in Contemporary Society
(March 2007)."
Hajiya Dukku speaks her mother tongue, Fulfulde,
Hausa, English and French. She has received
commendations from the Gombe State Ministry of
Education and the National Institute of Corporate
Executives (2005). Also, she received the
Development in Nigeria Merit Award (DINMA) in
2005.
