• Background and Justification:As natural resources are scarce in the autonomous territories. the main potential asset of the Palestinian economy would be a high quality, competitive labour force, in terms of low costs, proximity to international markets, readiness to respond rapidly to new market demands and adaptability to rapid technological changes .
• Objectives:The establishment of a Palestinian Microelectronics Facility Centre (PMF) with a view to developing Palestinian capacity in this field and to provide services to industry and to other public and private sector institutions (hospitals. clinics, laboratories. electronics, equipment business machines, etc.). The establishment of links between higher education and socio-economic sectors..
• Main activities: Creation of a PMF at two sites to be agreed upon by the Council for Higher Education. Training of PMF staff who will then prepare, in collaboration with universities, inventories of equipment and services required. Purchase and installation of equipment at the PMF centres..
