- On barren soil, the harvest reaped by man is the fruit of his own intelligence
The West Bank and Gaza lacking in water, land and natural resources.Three immediate objectives have been
set the management of coastal resources (pollution contort development of aquaculture), a fresh-water policy, and talent-spotting
for the industries of the future, such as microelectronics. Scientific co-operation will rely in particular
on the expertise of Palestinians from the TOKTEN programme
.
- The "hi-tech" asset
On barren soil, the harvest reaped by man is the fruit of his own intelligence: the West Bank and
Gaza will have to count on the industries of the future and high-technology products. Among the sectors with a stake in the development of a microelectronics industry are secondary and higher education, small and medium-sized business, medical equipment, and "hi-tech" materials for both research and day-to-day application. The Palestinian Microelectronics Centre will be required to participate in the development of businesses and products by helping in the selection and installation of appropriate modern equipment, while providing training to handle hard ware and software and fostering technology transfer.
