National Seminar on Education for the 21st Century
Dhaka, Bangladesh
22-23 June 1999
The Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO (BNCU), in collaboration with the University of Dhaka and the UNESCO, Dhaka Office, organized from 22-23 June 1999, a national seminar on Education for the 21st Century as a follow up of the International Conference on Education for the 21st Century in the Asia-Pacific region held in Melbourne, Australia in 1998.
Bangladesh has many challenges and prospects in the education sector. The recommendations of the Delors Report needed to be reviewed as to how these recommendations can be used for strengthening the education system.
The seminar attached top priority on vision, objectives, curriculum structure, content, transaction and implications; monitoring, supervision and evaluation of level wise education. Education through international cooperation remains a key to development efforts. Bangladesh strongly supports the four pillars of learning.
The keynote papers presented in the seminar provided much scope for thought, particularly on curriculum and the recommendations emerged as consensus give new answers to educational challenges of the country.
The proceedings of the seminar are recorded in the form of a report which can be obtained from the Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO.
