It advocates for the respect for universal values common to all civilizations (solidarity, tolerance, recognition of human rights and fundamental freedoms for al, etc.). Through education, UNESCO contributes not only for the promotion of all of these values but also to anchor them within educational practices and in an individual's behaviour with a view to promoting peace and dialogue among civilizations.
