The celebration of the United Nations Year of Dialogue among Civilizations provides the opportunity for the international community to renew its commitment to promote and develop international cooperation on the basis of the recognition of the equal dignity of individuals and of societies. The Round Table is convened to formally launch the United Nations Year for Dialogue Among Civilization with a high level discussion and presentation
Introductory document.

  Arrangements
This meeting will be chaired by the Director-General of UNESCO, Mr. Ko´chiro Matsuura.  The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr.Kofi Annan will make an opening speech.

The Round Table will be addressed by President Khatami of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Heads of State and Governments and other personalities.
