Update of ALADIN membership information, October 2011
During late summer 2011, all ALADIN members were contacted individually and requested to update their membership information. Corrections and amendments were done in the online ALADIN Membership Directory on the ALADIN Website.
ALADIN was presented at International Literacy Conference in India, September 2011
The theme of this year’s International Literacy Day (8 September 2011) was “Literacy and Peace”. It was marked in New Delhi, India, at an International Conference, “Women’s Literacy for Inclusive and Sustainable Development”, organised by the Government of India’s Department of School Education & Literacy.
ALADIN-India co-ordinator Prof. Dr. Shah from the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi talked in his presentation "An Overview of Important International Networks in Adult Education" about ALADIN and other important networks, including ASEM, ICAE, ASPBAE, ESREA and IRA.

PALDIN co-ordinator Prof. Dr. Shah (ALADIN-India) presented PALDIN in a workshop on Adult Educators at the ICAE VIII World Assembly that took place in Malmö, Sweden (14-17 June 2011).

An annotated bibliography on Adult Learning and Literacy in Latin America and the Caribbean (2000 – 2011) was published in Spanish as a joint regional effort of ALADIN members in the region.

A new ALADIN flyer in postcard format is available free of charge from the ALADIN coordinator. It is a small and attractive public relation "give away" for conferences, meetings and mailings.
International Seminar at Duisburg Essen University, March 2011
In his position as Visiting Professor at the Duisburg Essen University (January – April 2011), Prof. S.Y. Shah (ALADIN-India) organized together with Prof. Nuissl von Rein (DIE, Germany) on 27-28 March 2011 an international seminar cum workshop on “International Cooperation and Networking in Literacy and Adult Education: Experiences, Issues & Policy Implications”. The meeting was attended by 13 international participants and up to 10 students and staff of the European Master in Adult Education (EMAE) programme of Duisburg Essen University. The objectives of the workshop were to critically review various different international collaborative projects in literacy and adult education and to examine the existing mechanisms of international collaboration in this area.
ALADIN Co-ordinator Lisa Krolak gave a presentation on “ALADIN – Global networking for facilitating access to information and documentation on adult learning and literacy”.
