New ALADIN members, October 2012
The ALADIN community welcomes the following new ALADIN members: the Makere University, College of Education and External Studies Library Services (CEESLIB) in Uganda and the Association for Harmonious Development of Adults and Youth of Uzbekistan (AHDAY UZ), Information Centre in Uzbekistan.
ALADIN in Brazil, August 2012
In Brazil, three centers of reference for the history and memory of adult education (EJA) joined ALADIN from a national network of federal and state universities in Brazil, which work closely with the UNESCO Chair at the Federal University of Paraíba:
- the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), Brazil (Núcleo de Referencia en EJA de Rio Grande do Norte);
- the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), Cátedra UNESCO de EJA, Centro de Referência de Educação de Jóvenes e Adultos;
- Federal University of Goiás (UFG), Centro de Memoria Viva – Documentação e Referência em EJA, Educação Popular e Movimentos Sociais do Centro-Oeste.
ALADIN Advisory Committee Meeting, May 2012
The ALADIN Advisory Committee Meeting convened at UIL on 25 May 2012. The meeting was organised as one of a series of events on 24 and 25 May to commemorate the 60th anniversary of UNESCO’s presence in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. During the meeting a wide range of issues were covered such as the use of social media, the idea of establishing an online depository of adult learning materials, various capacity building and training opportunities for ALADIN members and different national and regional ALADIN initiatives. The main outcome of the meeting was a revised ALADIN Work Plan 2012-2013.
ALADIN members on Facebook, February 2012
A survey of Facebook was done to see how many ALADIN members have a Facebook entry. 39 members (of currently 96 ALADIN members) were located with their own Facebook entry and were invited to "like" ALADIN to make sure that information is shared via Facebook.
