Grameen Bank

Nine documentaries about the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh: A Bank for the Poor (23'); Shaheeda's Life (20'); A Time for Change (22'); Fighting a Disaster (16'); Housing for the Poor (16'); Future for the Children (15'); Trainers Training Programme (17'); The Sixteen Decisions (22'); Grameen Check (12'), illustrate how, by granting small loans to villagers, the Grameen Bank has helped to generate self-employment among the poor and improved the quality of life for millions of impoverished villagers. Founded in the 1980s, this scheme is unique in its contribution towards sustainable development through the elimination of poverty and illiteracy and particularly through the empowerment of women in Bangladesh.

This document traces the lives of women from various walks of life in Tunisia, compares conditions of women in rural and urban areas, mentioning the role of the UN in the emancipation of women.
