Television News in Focus

A two-part video intended for use by teachers and students of media studies at senior secondary level. Part One: An introduction to news values and to news item production at TV3 (New Zealand) followed by a detailed account of the visual and audio decisions made for the production of a specific news item, (20'). Part Two: Raw field tape of events at Waitangi on Waitangi Day 1992, from which students can edit their own news item, (40').

Shorts 1

"Shorts 1" is the first in a series of videos aimed at providing schools with good examples of New Zealand film to enable them to build up their film libraries as the series develops. Each video is accompanied by teachers' notes and is designed for use in secondary school film and media studies programmes. "Shorts 1" consists of three short films and a booklet containing background notes and suggestions for classroom activities: previewing, discussion, synopsis, evaluation, creative response, etc.

Education Working: Curriculum Extension in Papua New Guinea

The Secondary School Community Extension Project (SSCEP), its successes and failures. The video was made at Mainohona, Kagua and Cameron high schools and includes interviews with students, teachers, Board of Governors, villagers, parents, graduates of SSCEP schools, the SSCEP headquarters team, inspectors and other education personnel. It was produced to help high-school teachers, teacher-trainers, inspectors and others understand all about SSCEP and curriculum extension.

Finer Than Any Colour / Here We Are

Students in a multi-ethnic sixth-form class in the Netherlands work through themes and teaching methods from "Here we Are", writing texts about family members living far away, participating in role-play on the arrival of a new student, talking about prejudice, etc. Through "Finer than any Colour", teachers, students, parents and educators learn how a few lessons for "Here we Are" are conducted in a Dutch class.

You Can Do It

DO-IT (Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking Technology) to increase the participation of individuals with disabilities in academic programs and careers. DO-IT scholars are high school students with disabilities who have an interest and aptitude in science, engineering, mathematics or technology and who have a desire to attend college. This 8-part video provides an overview of the DO-IT program, with statements from the students, the teachers, a look into class activities and making college education possible for students with disabilities.

A la recherche d'écoles exemplaires

Cette vidéo est le complément de "L'école secondaire au Canada - Rapport national de l'étude sur les écoles exemplaires". Mené en collaboration avec l'Association canadienne d'éducation, le Ministère canadien du développement des ressources humaines et 10 universités, ce projet a permis de trouver, dans l'ensemble du Canada, des établissements secondaires dont on jugeait qu'ils avaient "réussi" et d'étudier les facteurs favorisant cette réussite. La vidéo montre pourquoi 7 des 21 écoles retenues sont des établissements modèles. Elèves, professeurs, administrateurs et parents parlent de ce qui rend leur école spéciale.

Attestation scolaire de sécurité routière

L'ASSR s'inscrit dans le cadre des programmes et instructions des collèges en France. Les vingt questions de l'épreuve ont pour support des situations réelles de circulation routière ou des documents présentés au moyen de cette cassette vidéo. Les situations ou documents ont été choisis en fonction de la fréquence et de la gravité des accidents dont les jeunes sont victimes en tant que piétons, cyclistes, usagers des transports en commun, passagers de véhicules et cyclomotoristes. (Deux vidéos : niveau 3e et niveau 5e).
