Support for national policies, norms and standards

As many Member States increasingly feel a pressing need to expand and reform their education systems, UNESCO assists them in the formulation of national policies in respect of educational buildings, furniture and their maintenance, as well as in the definition of national norms and standards. These norms and standards comprise guidelines on the design of educational buildings and furniture by proposing minimum comfort and safety standards, as well as mechanisms for maintenance, costing, budgeting and management. Projects are on-going in Chile, Morocco, Palestine and project proposals have been prepared for Haiti, Saudia Arabia and Mozambique.
