Project 2000+ Steering Committee Meeting

Following the recommendations of the Advisory Board meeting of Project 2000+ (v. Connect, Vol.XXI, No.4, December 1996/INISTE Bulletin, Vol.XIV, September 1996) the Steering Committee met at UNESCO Hq, Paris, on 15-16 May 1997 to assess the current situation of Project 2000+ and formulate a joint strategy for future implementation.

It was attended by representatives of the following member organizations: Commonwealth Secretariat, Gender and Science and Technology (GASAT), International Council of Associations for Science Education (ICASE), International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU), International Organization for Science and Technology Education (IOSTE), World Council of Associations for Technology Education (WOCATE) and the host organization UNESCO.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Bank participated by means of tele-conference facilities on 15 May 1997.

A certain number of science education associations, members of ICASE, representatives from the Permanent Delegations of UNESCO Member States and members of UNESCO Secretariat also attended as observers.
