How teachers awaken potential

Is the answer to today’s education problems giving every child access to a personal computer?

If not, what is the answer? One might well ask what is education? Its oldest pedagogical meaning was to "draw out" something latent or potential. But with the advent of globalization and information superhighways, this conception is giving way to the idea that education is about learning skills to access information, rather than developing the human personality.

Teachers, however, are not so easily put off course. Many of them around the world are using the most creative techniques to open up children’s minds and release the treasure within — the full potential of the individual.

This brochure presents nine such teachers who, along with colleagues like them, are without doubt the best antidote to forces and interests that see education as a commodity.
