    Other information
The main projects of a) Basic education (girls), b) Basic education on teacher upgrading, c) Literacy and skills training, d) Education quality improvement and e) the second Education development for support of EFA exist in the framework of the National Education Development Plan for 2001-2005. However, Lao PDR has not yet set feasible national EFA goals and targets. The review of existing programmes supporting the EFA objectives in order to identify the gaps in the planning to achieve the objectives still remains to be done together with the actual EFA plan.

Lao PDR has established EFA Committees at national, provincial and district levels including the Women’s Union, the Youth and Patriotic Front and village level consultations.

Additionally, a Technical Working Group for the national EFA plan preparation has been set up.

The discussions to develop a tentative work plan and timeframe have started. Lao PDR intends to conduct a round table meeting with donors, international organizations and NGOs to inform them on the preparations of the national EFA plan. Inter-sectoral national consultations have been planned through the Committee for Planning and the Committee for Human Resource Development.
