| | - The Lebanese EFA National Forum was formed and launched on the 9th April 2002 by H.E. Mr. Abdel Rahim Murad, Minister of Education and Higher Education.- Chaired by H.E. Mr. Abdel Rahim Murad, Minister of Education and Higher Education, the EFA Forum is expected to develop the National Action Plan by end of 2002.- Mr. Victor Billeh, Director of UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in the Arab States in Beirut, made a presentation on the Dakar goals. He emphasized the responsibility of each country to achieve the goals of Education For All and explained the mechanism and role of UNESCO and other partners in supporting the efforts of the National Team. He also urged the members of the Forum to draw or elaborate on the existing educational development plans and frameworks such as the White Paper presented last year “Strategies for Educational Development in Lebanon”, the present “Educational Reform Program” and the “National Strategy for eradicating Illiteracy”. Mr. Billeh concluded by emphasizing the importance of such an endeavor for Lebanon to enable it to receive donor support and relieve its heavy debt burden.
