    • Azerbaijan: The 2nd meeting of the Network of the Pedagogical Universities of the South Caucasus (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia) was held on 16-18 May 2001 in the Azerbaijan University of Languages in Baku. The representatives of the Pedagogical Institutes and the Ministries of Education discussed EFA follow-up in the subregion. It was decided to recommend the setting up of a subregional EFA Forum and to request Mr Tomaz Tatishvilli, Deputy Minister of Education of Georgia and EFA National Co-ordinator in Georgia to be its Co-ordinator.

      The suggestion to set up a subregional EFA Education Forum for the South Caucasus was brought to the attention of the Ministers of Education of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia at a meeting in Baku, 30 May 2001

    • Lithuania: The Lithuanian Ministry of Education and Science organized a meeting on EFA national follow-up, in Vilnius, 26 - 27 June 2001, in co-operation with UNESCO and UNDP Lithuania. Alexandra Sannikov, UNESCO's Regional Education Adviser for Europe and Lene Buchert, from UNESCO's Dakar Follow-up Unit will take part in the meeting.

      Within the EFA framework, a meeting on curriculum development for Baltic States organized in Vilnius, from 9 - 13 October 2001, in co-operation with the International Bureau of Education.

    • Moldova: The Moldova State University organized an EFA national roundtable in Chisinau, from 25 to 27 September 2001, in co-operation with the UNESCO Secretariat, the Moldova National Commission for UNESCO, UNDP, the World Bank, the Soros Foundation and UNICEF.

      Following the mission of Moldova Delegation to UNESCO on 23 and 24 May 2001, it was decided that UNESCO would send two preparatory assistance missions to Chisinau.

    • Ukraine: The Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science has set up a Co-ordination Committee for Dakar follow-up activities.
