Students,
to have your prior studies assessed towards a degree in another
country (e.g. to continue your studies in another country)
you can:
1.
Consult the Convention ratified by both the country where
you have done your studies and the country where you would
like to continue your studies
2.
Contact the National Information Centre in the country where
you would like to study
3.
Contact the Secretariat of the Regional Committees responsible
for the implementation of each convention
It
is important to note that this information is related generally
to the recognition of academic qualifications for academic
purposes (e.g. to continue your studies in a different institution).
Nevertheless, the Conventions sometimes hold 'de facto' and
'de juro' role in recognizing diplomas for professional purposes
(e.g. to get a job). It is important to check with the different
conventions.
1.Consult the Convention
ratified by both the country where you have done previous
studies and the country where you would like to continue your
studies.
For example, if you have done your studies in Turkey and
would like to continue your studies in France, then you would
consult the Conventions in the Europe Region - the Lisbon
Convention, the European Convention or the Mediterranean Convention,
to assure that both Turkey and France have ratified these
agreements.
2.
You would then contact the National Information Centre (NIC)
in the country you would like to study either through the
National
Information Centre Database (for the contact information
of NICs outside the Europe Region) or the ENIC-NARIC
Database (for the contact info of NICs in the Europe Regon)
and request that your studies be recognized under the framework
of the Convention that has been ratified between the two countries.
The NIC in the country where you would like to study would
inform you of the necessary steps to assure the fair assessment
of your academic qualifications. For
example: if you have done your studies in Turkey and would
like to continue your studies in France, then you would contact
the NIC in France.
3.
Should you have further quarries, and/or
require other assistance you can also contact the Secretariat
of the Regional Committees responsible for the implementation
of each convention. For example: if you have done your
studies in Turkey and would like to continue your studies
in France and you require further assistance, after having
contacted the NIC in France, then you could contact the Secretariat
of the Regional Committee for the European Region.
