Using the Program

All 25 modules in Teaching and Learning for a Sustainable Future have been written to a common format to facilitate ease of navigation and use. They are divided into four themes (each with a distinctive colour).

Where do I start?

Start by clicking on any of the themes on the homepage

Each theme begins with a brief description and a list of modules

The left navigation bar is present throughout the entire programme. You can use this to move between the themes by clicking on any of the names in the bar. This navigation bar also provides:

UNESCO - a shortcut to the UNESCO website
Sitemap - an overview of all modules, activities and interactions in the theme
Home - a shortcut back to the homepage for a list of themes and modules
Help - links back to this information
Journal - lists all the learning journal activities for the theme
Key Links - lists a collection of links to other websites
Glossary - key terms used within this programme
Search - enables a keyword search of the programme

How do I find my way around the modules?

Once you click on a module name in the theme page you will notice a banner appear on the page.

This will enable you to quickly navigate between the module in the theme without needing to return to the theme page. Each module starts with common set of five headings - introduction, objectives, activities, references and credits.

To begin working on a module click on the first activity.

Pop-up Windows

Additional information is often provided in a 'pop-up' box. These pop over the main webpage and are closed in the same way that you normally close a program window.

Visiting Other Internet Sites

Internet sites external to this program launch a new browser window. This makes them easy to explore but you will find you cannot use the browser's 'Back' navigation to return to Teaching and Learning for a Sustainable Future. This is because there is more than one browser window open. Close the window when you have finished exploring the new Internet site to return to Teaching and Learning for a Sustainable Future, or move between windows using the ALT and TAB keys on the keyboard (Mac users = cmd + TAB).
