    2003

The Lifelong Learning Week 2003 was organised on November 3 - 10. For the fourth time, the festival brought together specialists and education providers as well as the wider public interested in learning possibilities. The programme of the week included fairs, as well as presentations, symposia and workshops on current issues in education. Among them were the themes of adult education and the European Union, trans-disciplinary approaches in education, holistic views in medicine, and culture and traditions.

The festival had four mottos underlining the importance of Lifelong Learning for the entire society:

During the week one of the main organisers of the festival, the Popular University of Bucharest, also celebrated its 40th anniversary.

The Lifelong Learning Week was organised by the Municipal House of Culture, the Popular University of Bucharest, and the Regional Centre for Adult Education CLUJ, and coordinated by the Romanian office of the Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association (IIZ/DVV)

   2002
In November 2002, the third Learning Festival took place in Romania.

Background...
November has been picked as the month to organize the learning festival in Romania: Supported by the Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association (IIZ/DVV), the festival took place for the first time from 1 - 5 November 2000 during which 65 municipalities set up events.

On 7 - 11 November 2001, the second learning festival was carried out in Romania. More than fifty municipalities joined the framework of the festival during the first week of November. In the capital city Bucharest, a fair was opened to present the work and learning possibilities offered by the full diversity of education providers.

The overall objective of the Festival of Your Chances was to forward the crucial message that to engage in lifelong learning increases the chances for people. The bulk of activities was orientated towards the labour market - however, not with a pure vocational and technical training perspective but as an integrated concept for personal development. A special emphasis was laid on the involvement of and cooperation between governmental bodies, NGOs, private providers, popular universities (folk high schools) and cultural centers.
