The intercultural aspect of family literacy was one of the main themes of the concluding meeting of the QualiFLY project, held in Istanbul, Turkey from 22 to 25 May 2007. Hosted by the Turkish NGO ACEV (Mother-Child Education Foundation), the meeting reviewed all aspects of the project such as teacher training and involvement of parents. Impact indicators for successful programmes were developed and the strengths but also limits of family literacy defined. The meeting concluded with a statement giving the view of the group with regard to the perspectives of family literacy.

QualiFLY is a European project supported under the Socrates/Grundtvig 2 programme and coordinated by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning. Its partner countries are Germany, Ireland, Italy, Malta and Turkey. Other countries that have been involved in the project are Bulgaria, Canada, England, Israel (Palestine) and South Africa.
